...is my new catch-phrase. The basic idea is that, while songs, videos, photos, blog posts, forum discussions, etc. are all content, the process of producing and promoting that content is also content. Not only what, but also how and why. In that spirit, I have published the BHMN stats for September, October, and November so far.

The goal for November is +3000 page loads. I have begun promoting content within the site on other social networks such as MySpace, Digg, StumbleUpon, and social bookmarking sites such as De.lic.io.us, Faves.com, and others available through OpenWire. The last few days have shown +150 page loads per day, mostly from StumbleUpon.com. Although StumbleUpon is fairly reliable for a quick boost in page loads, most of these are spread out all over the world, and their visits are short compared to visits from the Black Hills area. So I am also searching for Black Hills residents on-line in hopes of gaining more organic traffic.

If you are interested in promoting your own content and others on the BHMN, click one of the feed boxes under the music player on the main page. After each post is a group of links to different sites that can not only help in promotion, but also help to give everyone ideas about how better to use the BHMN. They're also fun. StumbleUpon.com is my personal favorite. It records your own web activity and, based on what you like or don't like, narrows your "stumbles" to content that you prefer. It's one of the most entertaining ways to find your market.

I highly recommend making accounts at these different sites. Having a web-site is a good thing, but it's only the beginning to building a web presence. Having many different places for people to find your content or content that you like helps your search engine ranking and starts the small trickles that become a flowing stream of traffic. As you explore these options, I hope that you'll come back to the forums and continue this discussion.

To be honest, most of this has been theoretical. In the coming weeks, I will put the theory to practice. So far it seems to be working very well. I will also use the BHMN Forums to post more stats and updates on the progress toward the +3000 page loads goal for November.

Thank you all for being a part of this. I hope to make it worth your time.

Correction: It's OnlyWire, not OpenWire. With OnlyWire, you can post to several bookmarking sites at once.
